Ryan Byrne – Bassist for Stephen Cochran

Ryan Byrne | Bassist for Stephen Cochran

Ryan Byrne’s first real break in Nashville came in 2006, two years after moving to Music City, when he won an audition to become the touring bassist for Stephen Cochran. Cochran was then newly signed to independent record label, Aria Records Nashville, and they were putting a band together to tour in support of Cochran’s eponymous debut CD. Byrne would remain a regular member of Cochran’s band for most of the next 10 years, and went on to tour the USA multiple times – opening for or otherwise sharing the stage with artists such as Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Lee Brice, Toby Keith, Big & Rich, Clint Black, Trisha Yearwood, Charlie Daniels, The Steve Miller Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, Jackyl, The Gin Blossoms, and many, many others for crowds upwards of 50,000 people. Byrne also toured internationally with Cochran as part of a 17-day AFE (Armed Forces Entertainment) tour of the Middle East (Kuwait/Bahrain) for Coalition Forces deployed there. Over the years Byrne appeared in five of Cochran’s official music videos including 2007’s “Friday Night Fireside” (which was in regular rotation on GAC and was nominated as a Top 50 Video of the Year); 2009’s “Walmart Flowers”; 2010’s “Hope” (written/filmed exclusively for and distributed nationwide by the Dept of Veterans Affairs – Research & Development as part of an informational DVD about new treatments, surgeries, and technologies available to veterans); 2012’s “Pieces”, and 2016’s “She’ll Thank Me Later”. Byrne also performed live with Cochran for several regional and national television appearances including FOX News Channel’s UParty 2008 New Year’s Eve special live from Times Square, NYC! The Stephen Cochran Project (2016) album also features Byrne as a session bassist, having recorded the master bass tracks for all but three of the songs on the album.
