Nostalgic Distortion

Ryan Byrne is the founder, co-frontman, and bassist for veteran New Hampshire indie rock band Nostalgic Distortion.

Ryan Byrne formed Nostalgic Distortion in October 1994 on the campus of Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire.  Nostalgic Distortion (ND) was most active from 1994 – 2004, playing small pubs, clubs, and bars around New England and releasing three albums on Byrne’s record label, Dissonance Records. ND was Byrne’s primary band for ten years, until his move to Nashville, Tennessee in October 2004 relegated the rock group to side project status.

In 2013, ND began performing annual “anniversary” shows (during their anniversary month of October) at their old stomping ground, the Lucky Dog Tavern and Grill in Plymouth, NH. These anniversary shows are a benefit for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Due to Covid in 2020, the show went virtual – livestreaming from the band’s rehearsal space via their Facebook Page. This turned out to be a small blessing in disguise, as this now meant that old college friends and fans that were now spread throughout the country could tune in and watch from wherever they were. As a result, the annual show has remained a livestream event ever since.

In 2021, Ryan moved back to his hometown of Gorham, NH, to join the family business that he grew up in (Byrne Auto Center). As a result, all three members of Nostalgic Distortion are once again living in the same state. Though Ryan, Tim, and Marc are all busy with family, work, various other musical projects, and life in general – Nostalgic Distortion is now accepting select performance opportunities around New England and beyond, providing that schedules allow.
